Te Pūtea Whakatupu Trustis offering two exciting scholarships for 2014.
First, the Tāwera Scholarship that is aimed at Māori undergraduate students enrolled full time in 2014 in a commerce, business, or management degree. Preference will be given to those students who: are in their last year or second to last year of study towards their bachelor degree; have proven academic merit; demonstrate a commitment to tikanga Māori and te reo Māori; demonstrate a commitment to Māori, iwi, and hapū economic development; are interested in building personal skills and expertise to support Māori economic and social development. Māori undergraduate students enrolled full time in 2014 in a commerce, business, or management degree.
Business/Management Undergraduate Scholarship.

Secondly, the Rona Scholarship aimed at Māori undergraduate and graduate students enrolled fulltime in 2014 in a fisheries, aquaculture or marine sciences degree. Preference will be given to those students who: are in their last year or second to last year of study towards their degree; have proven academic merit; have proven research experience; are involved in research with direct relevance and/or application to fisheries and aquaculture industries; demonstrate a commitment to tikanga Māori and te reo Māori; demonstrate a commitment to working in the seafood industry; and are interested in building personal skills and expertise to support Māori economic and social development.
Fisheries and Aquaculture Industry Scholarship

There are 2 awards with a value of up to $30,000 each. This Prestigious Scholarship was created by the Trust deed signed by Rose Burdett Hellaby, the Māori Education Trust (then the “Māori Education Foundation”) and the NZ Insurance Company (now the New Zealand Guardian Trust), in 1969. Rose Hellaby lived just outside of Auckland, was a visionary and had shares in many New Zealand companies. The deed created scholarships to assist Māori students to attend any New Zealand or overseas tertiary institution.
